COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Although we’re always focused on the health of our patients, we want you to know that we’ve taken enhanced measures to protect your well-being while you’re in our office. Infection control has always been a top priority at Smiles 4U Dental. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. Our office is implementing the following health and safety protocols to ensure safety and well being of patients.

  • Pre-appointment screening call. We will call our patients to ensure they have not been sick, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. We will ask all patients to wear appropriate face covering/Mask for their appointment.
  • Only the patient will be permitted to enter the office. We ask that any guests accompanying the patient wait in or near the car. All patients will be taken directly into treatment room.
  • Patients’ temperature will be taken upon arrival. We will also ask you to use hand sanitizer when you enter the office.
  • Pre-treatment rinse with Peroxyl. In order to reduce the number of microorganisms that a patient might release, all patients will rinse with Peroxyl (1.5% hydrogen peroxide) prior to beginning treatment.
  • Personal protective equipment. Team members at the front office will wear masks and gloves, the clinical staff will wear Surgical masks, N95, gloves, goggles, face shields, head covers, and gowns.
  • Advanced Engineering Controls. To minimize Aerosol, we have upgraded to a higher power vacuum, Installed Purevac for Hygiene procedures to manage aerosols. We have always used Electric hand pieces in our office which produce 50% less aerosol as compared to traditional air driven hand pieces used in most dental offices.
  • Staff members will be tested for Covid-19. All staff members temperatures will be taken every morning.
  • Room disinfection. All rooms will continue to be thoroughly disinfected with EPA recommended disinfectant. All surfaces are sprayed and wiped. This has been our standard protocol before COVID-19 and will remain our standard protocol.
  • Social distancing. Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.
  • Sneeze Guards. Installed on reception desk to provide a safe distance for Patients and Staff

We look forward to seeing our Patients and are happy to answer any questions about the steps we are taking to keep all our patients and staff safe in our practice.

Symptoms of coronavirus are reported as flu-like, with varying degrees of severity. While we do not know everything about this virus to date, individuals who are elderly and/or immunocompromised appear to be the most at risk of a severe infection. To ensure your health and safety, and the health and safety of everyone at our practice, please reschedule your appointment if you or a member of your household has a cough, fever, and/or flu-like symptoms. In addition, please reschedule your appointment if you have traveled to any areas within the past 14 days that are at high risk for contracting the coronavirus.

We thank you in advance and extend our gratitude for your understanding and cooperation. Together, we can help keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office, and one of our staff members will be more than happy to assist you.
